RAIN

March 12, 2006

It’s raining.
It’s pouring.
It’s pounding. It’s sounding. Around this desert.

The power of a few little white kids doing a rain dance. Pure mind, pure words, pure heart, pure actions; you might just get what you need.

I will say this here on public domain: Thank you rain.

  1. I’m here. I made it! After my recent post moaning that I could’t get to your site from blogsome, Jeanette gave me your link and I found you. I am pleased as punch. I love your writing, I love the photos of your girls, I love your taste in music, and I absolutely LOVE the name Sula. I have just started reading and I’m wondering if you have an “about” page so I could get the lay of the land so to speak. Of course, as I read on, bits and pieces will start knitting together, but I’m intrigued by so many juicy nuggets in your posts that leave me wondering more…Your husband on the turntables for example - was he a dj? In LA? Elsewhere? (My previous partner and almost husband was a NYC MC & dj; an original member of BDP and old skool b-boy)
How and why did you pick the name Sula? (Toni Morrison is one of my heros)
What brought you to Arizona? Why on earth would you ever leave NYC? (I lived there off and on with ex. Upper West Side) When did you live in LA? (I lived there from 89-93)
Okay, so that just begins the discourse. I knew that a friend of Jeanette’s would be a friend of mine.
Glad you got some rain. I happen to reading ‘The Worst Hard Time’ right now - about the Dust Bowl 30’s so I’m fascinated with the concepts of weather and soil and atmosphere right now. Funny how that happens - synchronicity. Like deja vu, they usually tell me I’m on the right path. I look forward to adding your space to my daily fix.
    Take good care, Brooke
